Yesterday we took the Megabus {a bus you can book online for really cheap and head to New York, DC, and lots of other places} to New York City. It was only $20 round trip for all of us, and it was SOOO worth not having to drive and find parking in the Big Apple. We got to NY at 9 am and jumped right on the subway to begin our journeys!
First stop: 9/11 memorial.

The World Trade Center actually used to consist of 6 different buildings all right around each other, but there were only 2 tall towers, which were the ones that were hit. This new tower is not built right on where the other two used to stand, but instead is where one of the smaller buildings used to stand.

Unbeknownst to us, you have to have tickets to go to the memorial. We arrived right at 10:00 {right when it opened!!} and were looking around when we spotted a group of Sister Missionaries! We went up and said hello, and asked if they knew if we had to have tickets or not. They were like "OH! We are serving in NJ right now, but just came over to go to the Temple today. Some of our Companions went in, but we didn't want to go. Do you want our tickets?" Um, YES! That couldn't have worked out better. So in we went!
They are still doing construction on part of it, but the main area is finished and so they are letting people go in. It was REALLY amazing. You all need to go.

| Pax Deli! We HAD to eat lunch here.... When I first went on choir tour in NYC 7 years ago, I was introduced to this place! It is so yum, and I have been craving it ever since. You better believe I got the Chicken Vera Cruz Panini with fresh squeezed lemonade. |

We meandered around a bit, went shopping on Canal Street, ate pastrami sandwiches, got a Jamba Juice and hopped back on the Megabus at 7 pm! We had such a blast and can't wait to go back!
SHUT UP! I have your same shirt, Target right?? I love the shirt even more now--we're twinners and didn't even know it. Looks like y'all had a blast...miss you and your little family-every one of them! One day Braden will go to NYC with me....and somehow we'll hit up some broadway musicals....k, maybe when we're like 50 and have money to spend on that sort of thing. ;)
ReplyDeleteLoved reading about your adventure--gotta love the missionaries AND and the 9.11 memorial--I didn't know they rebuilt...I am so out of the loop-haven't been there since there was nothing there. Anyway...ramble...I better go play cards with fam now. Love ya!
